Final Swim Meet of the Summer

Today was the last morning we had to be at the pool at 5:30 am; no more swim meets this summer!! Today was divisionals, which meant we swam against 3 other teams & the boys did excellent! Ethan brought in a whopping 4 heat winner ribbons, and Rhys won 2 of his own. It was hot sitting out there, so I played with camera a lot & got some pretty neat shots. So you lucky readers get to get an eye full of the Forbes men strutting their stuff! (shout out to my family that pitched in, and bought me such an awesome camera for my birthday!! thank you so much!)

Rhys discussing his strategy with Coach C.
Ethan waiting "patiently" for his turn in the relay.
Rhys diving in.
mean octopus man

I think Rhys needs to work on his self confidence. HA!
"If you're not first you're last!"

Rhys battling it out in the freestyle.
Looking pretty while Dad makes announcements!
Announcer is the best volunteer job b/c it comes with a seat under a tent!

Ethan diving in (middle). I love all the action in this pic!
E in the middle of his butterfly stroke.
E bringing it home to win his 50 meter free style.
Shark man!

The boys' biggest fan ready for bed after such a long & hot day!

High Tea at the Forbes' House

Ask anyone, I am a dork about high tea. I love the whole idea behind it: leisurely sipping tea while making your way through 3 different courses. It is a great way to while away an afternoon, especially when you are in good company. I have been waiting patiently for the boys to be old enough to share this experience with them, and I was not disappointed. The boys and I set the whole thing up for Oma's visit from the tea sandwiches to the ending sweets. At one point Ethan did comment, "If the boys in my class knew I was doing this, they would call me a sissy." I politely told him that the only reason anyone would say that is because they did not know what they were missing! (on a side note I am sure the boys in his class don't like brie cheese, or love to raclette). This tea will forever be a treasured memory for me.

Berkley Comes to Visit

Melanie adopted a baby, and her name is Berkley. She is a Viszla puppy, and she is cuuuute!! You can definitely tell she is Mel's dog from her matching leash & collar to her habit of putting all of her stuff in her bed. Mom brought her for her first visit to P-Ville, and we all fell in love with her. Even the old gray girl succumbed to her charms (photographic evidence forthcoming)!
I should also mention that in May the Schneiders adopted an adorable chocolate lab named Zoe. She is a lovable ball of energy! I don't have a picture of her, but I'm gonna get one!
My family is in full on puppy love mode!

Piranha Skin Art

There is a very talented artist that gives the swim team skin art w/ permanent markers. Ethan and Rhys got some really cool ones this weekend! Don't mind their tough guy poses!

Jake's New Ride

5 years ago we bought an 87 saab for jake to drive. "Boo" (get it, it's a saab) has been a great car, and more importantly no car payment. She has lasted waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy longer than we ever imagined, but there were drawbacks: no air conditioner, the driver's window wouldn't roll down, wires hanging down, the trunk wouldn't open, there was no insulation in the car so conversations were pretty much out the window (if you could get it open). For all that we will miss the car, but we are so happy that Jake gets to drive an awesome car with all the bells and whistles (seat warmers even in the back?). Thanks Honey for never complaining, and we are so happy that you can now sit in traffic comfortably!

Summer Livin'

We have been doing absolutely nothing, and it feels GOOD!!! The only exception is swim team, and they need some daily exercise anyway! The Forbes family is playing, swimming, reading, and playing. I love it.

A well played in room!

She'll kill me one day, but I couldn't resist posting this shot. That is some moon tan!

We have all been buried in sand, but who has been buried in clean clothes?

hey thats awesome....

It is really easy to stumble onto scary things on the internet. I was reading a blog written by a mom that has a 20 year old daughter with down syndrome. Recently the daughter has been displaying some signs of Alzheimers. What?????!!!! She had a link to an article that stated, "Estimates vary, but a reasonable conclusion is that 25 percent or more of individuals with Down syndrome over age 35 show clinical signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's-type dementia." Hey that is awesome! Well you know what Ms. Scarlet always says, but my heart can't help but tighten with fears about the future.
