Enchanted Rock!
On Memorial Day weekend, we decided to get out of town for a bit and visit Enchanted Rock. For those of you not familiar with ER, it is a huge pink granite boulder that rises 425 feet above ground. The Tonkawa Indians believed that the rock was inhabited by spirits, because of the groaning and creaking sounds that the rock made at night. In reality it was just the granite contracting in the cool night air. Nevertheless Enchanted Rock makes for a wicked climb up to the summit, especially if you have a baby on your back (you go Jake!). It was such a treat to get to spend some family time outdoors!
